Paying for a ticket to experience a musical concert is something most individuals will never miss out on. So, why not pay for tickets knowing that all proceedings will go to a good cause? That’s what happened on the Saturday evening of November 9, at the Taber Parallel Church.
The president of the Filipino Society in Taber (FST), Arnel Lomibao together with his team of officers organized a community concert fundraiser for the town of Taber titled “Concert for a Cause” which is arguably the first of its kind in the humble town.
The concert was surrounded with a very engaging energy throughout. Featuring the local talents and bands, this event was an overall success with filled seats and a tireless crowd, singing their hearts out along with the performers on stage. Taking the lead and hosting the event was Lomibao with his fellow FST officer, Mat Camba who guided the audience throughout the duration of the evening.
During the generous and inspiring evening after 6 P.M., the audience members were treated and serenaded by the talented volunteer artists, contributing to the entertainment and thoughtful night. VERSION 2 (V2), previously known as the “Jam Nuts”, ushered the night in with song covers of popular bands. Besides from the said band, they were also accompanied by some artists who made the night a delightful one. Leila Pacleb, Kacey Waldner, James Mendoza and Romeo “Tats” Rosalita (who was compared to a popular Filipino crooner from the 80’s, Basil Valdez).
President Lomibao sends his thanks to all donors and attendees for making the event an absolute success.
“I’d like to thank all the generous and kind people that shared their blessings. May God bless us all.”
Present at the event was the ever-supportive Mayor of Taber, Andrew Prokop, who also sang to the delightment of the attendees. The president of the Filipino Canadian Association of Lethbridge Alberta (FCALA), Vic Visitacion, was also seen and as always, gives his time to support every event such as this.
All proceeds will go to support the affected victims of tropical storm Kristine in the Philippines, making this generous and open-hearted gesture truly a night to remember.
