The M.D. of Taber has a WhatsApp Channel.
“The MD of Taber is excited to introduce its official WhatsApp Channel, a new communication platform designed to keep residents informed and connected,” said Arlos Crofts, Chief Administrative Officer for the M.D. of Taber. “This channel will deliver important updates, service alerts, and community announcements directly from the municipality to subscribers, providing a convenient and accessible way to stay engaged with local happenings.”
Crofts says that the decision to launch the WhatsApp Channel was made as part of the MD of Taber’s ongoing commitment to enhancing communication with residents.
Following the evaluation of various platforms, Crofts says, WhatsApp was chosen due to its widespread use and accessibility, and the development process included setting up the channel, integrating it with our existing communication tools, and testing it to ensure it meets the needs of the community.
Crofts says that the M.D. of Taber’s WhatsApp Channel was set up by the internal team in collaboration with WhatsApp’s features to ensure it aligns with the M.D.’s communication objectives and is maintained by the M.D.’s communication team as part of their ongoing responsibilities.
“The WhatsApp Channel provides an immediate and direct line of communication between the M.D. of Taber Council and residents and allows for real-time updates, ensuring that residents receive important information as soon as it’s available,” said Crofts. “The response has been positive, with residents appreciating the convenience and immediacy of receiving updates via WhatsApp. The channel has been well-received as it adds another layer of communication tailored to modern needs. It is expected that subscription to this medium by residents will grow over time.”
Crofts says that residents can access the M.D. of Taber’s WhatsApp Channel by subscribing via a provided link that is available on our social media platforms and website. There is no cost to subscribe to the channel, Crofts says, but users must have the WhatsApp app installed on their smartphones.
“Subscribers will receive timely updates on service alerts, community announcements, event notifications, and other important information from the MD of Taber,” said Crofts. “The content is designed to keep residents informed about what’s happening in their community. By subscribing to the channel, residents can stay updated on critical information that impacts their daily lives, such as road closures, service changes, and event schedules. The channel also serves as a quick reference for community news and announcements.
In addition to the WhatsApp Channel, Crofts says, the M.D. of Taber has also previously implemented other communication initiatives, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and X pages, and the MD Connection eNewsletter, and these platforms have been successful in keeping residents informed, and the M.D. expects the WhatsApp Channel to build on this success by reaching even more residents.
“We believe the WhatsApp Channel is a valuable resource because it leverages one of the most popular messaging platforms in the world to deliver essential information directly to our residents,” said Crofts. “This aligns with our goal of making communication as accessible and efficient as possible. Residents are encouraged to subscribe to the WhatsApp Channel and stay engaged with the latest updates from the MD of Taber. We also remind everyone to follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn, and X, or sign up for the MD Connection eNewsletter for comprehensive coverage of news and events across the MD of Taber. Don’t forget to press the bell icon to be notified whenever a new post is made on our WhatsApp Channel.”
