New Democrat candidate for Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood, Brian Mason, sent a letter to Alberta’s Auditor General today asking him to investigate the secret deal between the PC government and the operator of Kananaskis Country Golf Course.
“I am writing to you today regarding significant concerns surrounding the government and the publically owned Kananaskis Country Golf Course,” Mason wrote. “In addition to the secret nature of this deal there are questions surrounding the relationship between Kan-Alta and the government.”
Jim Prentice promised during the Spring Legislative Session that no more money would be paid out to Kan-Alta until a review was done, but the government records show the government $3.9 million in the last 3 months, in addition to the $5.4 million already disclosed.
Mason also asked the AG look into the issue of when the government assumed liability for flood damage, which appears to have been after the floods took place.
“I am asking you to conduct a full investigation into the sourcing of the contact and any subsequent dealing and arrangements the government had with Kan-Alta Golf Management Ltd,” wrote Mason.
