The Vauxhall Academy of Baseball Jets went to Lethbridge this weekend with their eyes set on a tournament victory, and after a 5-1 record, they were able to accomplish exactly that.

Kicking off on Thursday, the Jets saw an opening tournament game against the Lethbridge Longhorns, which saw a 14-2 win for VAB. Raphael Ranger had a walk, Cardel Dick went 1-3 with an RBI, Kayden Hleucka had a double and an RBI, Kyle Yip went 3-3 with a single and two doubles, and two RBI, Jack Wheatley had a double and two RBI, Riley Pearce went 2-3 with a walk, Brennan McTavish had a double and a walk, Jared Bendfeld had a single, a triple, and four RBI, Colin Fisher had a single, a double and an RBI, and Carson Boyko had an RBI, a stolen base, and a walk. The Jets collected 13 hits in the game and had one error defensively.

Garrett Smith pitched a complete five-inning game with seven punchouts, three hits, and two earned runs.

In the second game of the day, the Jets took on Webber Academy from Calgary. Once again, the bats were steady while the pitching staff continued to limit the opposing team and the Jets took home a 12-2 win. Anson McGorman got the start on the bump for the Jets and the pitcher went four innings where he struck out 10, walked two, gave up one hit, and one earned run. Parker Austin followed up with three innings with one hit, one earned run, one walk, and four strikeouts.

Demitri Shakotko collected a walk, Dick went 1-1 with three walks, Hleucka also had a pair of walks, Yip had a double, a home run, and three RBI, Wheatley had a double with two RBI, Pearce was 1-4 with an RBI, Bendfeld walked twice, and Ranger went 2-3 with an RBI, and a walk. The Jets collected seven hits and committed one error in the game.

After a great first day at the PBA tournament, the Jets returned to the field Friday morning to take on the Regina Red Sox. After falling back early, the Jets roared back to take a lead. But the Red Sox were undeterred as they would wind up scoring five runs in the sixth inning and take a 7-5 win. Wheatley walked twice, Pearce walked once, Fisher had a single, Bendfeld had a walk, McNeil had a double and two RBI, and Eric Reiling had a walk. The Jets had two hits and committed four errors in the field.
