Sabres start 2022 schedule of CAHL season

This weekend saw the return of the U11 Vauxhall Sabres as they began the 2022 portion of their Central Alberta Hockey League schedule.

The team had a pair of road games and were looking to get back into the win column following the break.

On Saturday, the Sabres were in Picture Butte which saw tons of goals for both sides, but the home team would skate to a 14-8 win. Jhett Stober collected a hat trick and an assist while Cole Bouchard would also find the back of the net three times. Peyton Honess had a goal and an assist, Austin Odland had a single tally, and Chance Crowson found the score sheet with an assist. Gavin Bilsky got the start in net and stopped 14 Picture Butte shots.

Sunday morning saw a lower scoring game for the Sabres, and they would fall to Redcliff 7-4. Bouchard had two goals and an assist, while Jhett Stober and Lincoln Deleeuw had the other Sabre goals. Nash Stober was between the pipes for the Sabres in the second game of the weekend and made 20 saves for the team.

This coming weekend sees the team back on the ice for another pair of games. On Friday, the team sees Bow Island/Foremost come to the Vauxhall Arena for a 6 p.m. puck drop. Then on Saturday morning, the team travels to Coaldale for a 9:15 a.m. game.
