The Vauxhall Advance is a community newspaper published every Thursday by the Alta Newspaper Group Limited Partnership. Besides The Vauxhall Advance, this group includes five other community newspapers in Southern Alberta, The Taber Times, Sunny South News, 40-Mile County Commentator and Cypress Courier, Westwind Weekly and the Lethbridge Sun Times; two daily newspapers, the Lethbridge Herald and the Medicine Hat News, two specialty farm publications, the Prairie Post and the Prairie Post West as well as three southwest Saskatchewan Community newspapers, Shaunavon Standard, Maple Creek Advance Times and the Maple Creek News.
With a paid, weekly circulation of approximtely 800 copies per issue, The Advance serves the towns of Vauxhall, Hays and Enchant. The Advance strives to present an accurate and interesting reflection of communities affairs and a forum for public opinion. Market surveys have shown high readership levels as local residents tend to take an avid interest in the affairs of the communities which the paper serves. The Advance is a member of the Alberta Weekly Newspaper Association and the Canadian Community Newspaper Association.
Vauxhall Advance History
The first issue of the Vauxhall Advance was published in October 1978 by H. George Meyer and Walter Koyanagi, former owners of the Taber Times. Since then it has changed hands several times and is now a part of the Alta Newspaper Group Limited Partnership.
