Taber/Vauxhall RCMP investigated a total of 125 calls for service during the weeks of April 1-28.

Investigations of note included: individual sending content to individuals that they don’t know and experiencing extortion. RCMP are reminding people to be careful about what you send to people, whether you know them or not.

Intimate images are saved and can be redistributed to others whom you don’t know. Always think about what the consequences may be before sending images that you wouldn’t be comfortable with your family and those you care about seeing.

Taber/Vauxhall RCMP received 24 9-1-1 hang-ups, misdials or open line calls during the month of April. 9-1-1 calls go to Taber Police Service initially as the local 9-1-1 center and then are sent to RCMP dispatch if they are outside of the Town of Taber.

A 9-1-1 call takes the time of two dispatchers to take the initial call and then dispatch the call to an officer. RCMP officers, if they are able to locate where the 9-1-1 call is coming from, or if there are any safety concerns, need to attend to ensure the safety of the individual who called 9-1-1.

Taber RCMP are reminding parents to take batteries out of old phones before giving them to children to play with. Also, keep an eye on your children if they do have your phone and teach them about when it is appropriate to call 9-1-1. RCMP are also asking individuals if you do call 9-1-1 in error, please stay on the phone with our dispatchers to confirm you are safe.

Taber/Vauxhall RCMP continue to make patrols throughout the M..D of Taber, the County of Vulcan and the County of Warner. Taber/Vauxhall RCMP are responsible for the communities of Barnwell, Grassy Lake, Wrentham, Vauxhall, Hays and Enchant. You will see RCMP not only patrolling the major highways in the M.D. of Taber, but also secondary highways and gravel roads.

With the warmer weather, RCMP will be patrolling the campgrounds more frequently as well to ensure the safety of those people camping within the M.D. of Taber.
