During the M.D. of Taber Council meeting that took place on September 24, Council discussed awarding the tender for Phase 3 of the Horsefly Regional Emergency Spillway.
Arlos Crofts, Chief Administrative Officer for the M.D. of Taber, explained to Council that tender closed on September 20 and there were four tenders submitted with GST excluded. The tenders were from Degraaf Excavating Ltd. for $6,944,664.50; Whissel Contracting Ltd. for $7,517,400.35; BYZ Enterprises Inc. for $7,898,000; and Bullin Construction Co Ltd. for $7,994,859.
Crofts stated that the recommendation is that the M.D. of Taber, as managing partner for the Southern Regional Storm Water Drainage Committee, award the tender for Phase 3 of Horsefly Regional Emergency Spillway to the lowest bidder, Degraaf Excavating Ltd., for the tender amount of $6,944,644.50 (GST excluded).
Ultimately, a motion was made that the M.D. of Taber. The motion was carried.
“I think this is a testament to the Administrative team on the last phase in getting 22 contractors out to do the pre-site visit,” said Councillor John Turcato. “I think that’s huge, and as we can see by the tender results, I think that also bodes well for our management of these projects.”
