Less than two weeks to go! Picture Butte’s Jamboree Days take place on August 16 and 17. Here is what you can expect and how to get ready.
First, if you want to participate in the parade, there is still time to register. If you are on the fence about it, take this as a nudge to go ahead! Spots are still open and as they say, the more the merrier! To register or for questions about parade participation, email chamber@picturebutte.ca or call 587-821-8544.
During Picture Butte Jamboree Days, an all weekend baseball tournament will take place at Harry Watson Memorial Park. Be sure to drop by the park to check out the fun.
Things get hopping on the 16th at 6 p.m. That is when the street dance (Lions Park outdoor rink) gives you a chance to shake and shimmy your cares away. Since this dance goes to 9 p.m., a concession is on site. Grab your refreshments and by 10 p.m., head over to the Harry Watson Memorial Park for the fireworks.
Saturday morning, August 17, things get off to an early start. Dig into the pancake breakfast at the arena between 7 and 10 a.m. In the same location (the arena), the Ag Society’s country market takes place. This opens at 8 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m.; be sure to bring your re-useable bags.
For those registered in the parade, you need to be at the Dorothy Dalgleish School at 10 a.m. for the lineup. Please be on time so the parade itself can start promptly at 11 a.m.
The afternoon is focused on family fun. Enjoy swimming from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is just $2 or a beneficial donation for the food bank. Some really good non-perishable food items to donate include peanut butter, powdered milk, baby food, and canned fruit and vegetables.
End the day in Lion’s Park at 9 p.m. with the outdoor movie. A concession is on hand for snacks, but you’ll need to bring your own lawn chair.
Hang onto that lawn chair! On Sunday, August 18 at 11 a.m. there is a non-denominational church service at Lions Park. This is followed up by a free lunch.
Jamboree Days are all about fun with your family and the community. Meet new friends, try new activities, enjoy some food, and be inspired by the service. For additional details or to stay updated on any changes or announcements, keep an eye on the Picture Butte Chamber website.
