The Enchant Community Library recently became the beneficiary of a $3,385 grant from the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta.
“We applied and were selected amongst a large group of organizations looking for help with various projects,” said Sharon Hagen, Manager of the Enchant Community Library. “The requests go before the decision-making board of the Community Foundation and are approved on their merit both financially and most importantly what will the funds do for the community. Once approved, the money is presented to the organization in the full amount approved as your grant.”
Sharon Hagen says that the grant is matching grant for repairs to the library frontage.
“We will be putting up a mock rock-bottom portion of the entrance wall, repair and repaint the siding and existing door with the goal of giving the library a vibrant and welcoming entrance,” said Hagen.
Besides this grant, Hagen said, the Enchant Community Library also received a matching grant from Veteran Affairs last year to install a war mural on the blank south wall. Beofore this project was completed, however, the entrance of the library looked very dated and rundown.
“We are always thankful to find avenues of funding to keep the library as current as possible,” said Hagen.
