The following are selected briefs from the Feb. 3 regular Vauxhall town council meeting.
Agenda approved
Vauxhall town council approved the agenda for the Feb. 3 meeting of council with the addition of an information and correspondence item from Closer To Home.
Christmas Bonus Policy
During their regular Feb. 3 meeting, Vauxhall council discussed a proposed Christmas Bonus Policy.
A copy of policy 25-2025 Christmas Bonus was not included in the council agenda, and was not yet available online as of press deadline. No similar policy is listed as being approved by council online.
Coun. Shelley Deleeuw said her only concern was that full-time boarding was four days a week rather than three days.
“Three full days would be 24 hours, which I would consider part time and really technically full-time is really 35 hours about,” said Deleeuw. “I think that we’d be generous at saying four days a week.”
Council passed a motion passing policy 50-2025 as amended.
Motion rescinded
A motion was passed to rescind motion 25-14, which was for the 3rd reading of Bylaw 1001-24, a bylaw to give council members a Code of Conduct. The bylaw – which repealed the town’s existing Code of Conduct Bylaw 976-21 upon passing – had already had been given third reading at an earlier date.
Mayor Kimberley Cawley said that it appeared that they had passed the third and final reading of the bylaw during council’s regular Dec. 16, 2024 meeting, but they also passed it during their Jan. 20, 2025 meeting.
Library Board Appointment
Council passed a motion to appoint Lucille Norris to serve as a member of the Vauxhall Library Board to Jan. 23, 2028.
