The Snowflake Frolic will begin at 5 p.m. today in the downtown core of Vauxhall.
“The event is meant to encourage residents to shop local and to bring people together to get into the Christmas spirit,” said Kimberly Cawley, Mayor of Vauxhall. “I think it’s a neat way to promote community togetherness, especially so close to Christmas.”
Mayor Cawley says that the Frolic will include firepits, a hayride, street hockey, games with prizes, and the Town will be serving hot chocolate. In addition to that, Mayor Cawley says, there will be a Live Nativity at the Evangelical Free Church.
There will even be a bingo card available to stamp during the event, Mayor Cawley says, and details about the card will be provided when people collect their cards.
Town councillors will also be at the soon-to-be-new Town Office in the old Scotiabank building, Mayor Cawley says, and everyone is invited to stop by for snacks, hot chocolate, and to say hello.
“The town is always excited to see residents come together and support local businesses, but also to just have a time to visit and enjoy our community and the great things it has to offer,” said Mayor Cawley.
South Country Co-op is also having their customer appreciation at the community hall from 5 to 7 p.m., Mayor Cawley says, and Santa will be there.
The Vauxhall and District Chamber of Commerce puts on this annual event, Mayor Cawley says, and they encourage all the businesses to stay open late and be part of the fun.
“A great way to get involved is to head downtown and see the action,” said Mayor Cawley. “Then pop over for supper at the community hall!”
