Vauxhall town council was presented with two delegations at their last regular meeting on Sept. 6 — one was around permits provided by the town and the other concerned with the upkeep of the town cemetery.
Vauxhall Mayor Ray Coad spoke about both of these delegations and further explained what they were after.
“We had two delegations — Park Enterprises and the Vauxhall Cemetery Society,” said Coad in an interview with the Advance. “Park Enterprises just described the services they provide to the town, and anything else they could do to simplify life. We had to take permits or they would take all the permits. What they do is — we take the permits here and Park Enterprises, they go do the inspections. You build a new house, they’ll come and check out that permit, make sure it’s all valid, the contractor is legit, and the work is being done properly. That’s what they do.”
Following this, Coad shifted to begin discussing the other delegation council received.
“The cemetery society, they came and asked about a couple of things they would like to change,” said Coad. “One was to add ribbons for the strips in the cemetery and council approved that to go ahead — we just need to get permission from the existing graves that are there, they have to get permission from the families to go ahead, so they have to wait for that and then they can go ahead and get that done. They asked about putting in some sprinkler lines and there’s no conflict with that. They can add another sprinkler line. We had a conflict in the past because of community gas lines go through the cemetery, which is confusing, especially for a place where you do a lot of digging, but they’re there.”
After this discussion, Coad spoke on how certain elements of the request has already been fulfilled while other item needs to be looked into.
