Twenty-one students and supervisors from Vauxhall High School and the Mennonite Alternative Program School made the two and a half-hour drive to the Operation Christmas Child warehouse in Calgary to help inspect gift-filled shoeboxes before they are sent to children in Central America and west Africa.
It’s the eighth year trip leader Jo Ann Pepneck has brought a group to volunteer with Operation Christmas Child.
“The point is teaching them how to give to others and this program is a really good model for that,” said Pepneck.
Vauxhall residents can still help children by packing shoeboxes. Just visit http://www.PackaBox.ca and do it online from the comfort of home.
