I am a landed immigrant of 40 years from the Netherlands and I am proud to live in Canada in this beautiful country.
What this great country did for my homeland during war time I am forever thankful for Canada fighting for our freedom.
But now I am seeing that freedom disappear a little bit by little bit with trends I find troubling of people afraid to have a voice. It’s not just local, it’s not just provincial, it’s all over Canada and the world.
People do not want to speak up to tell the truth. The truth is not around because people are afraid. People talk in coffee shops with a point of view, but are afraid to take it further.
The truth comes out sooner or later, but people have their selfish needs. Part of why people don’t speak up is because they say they have no time. People have less time than they had 30 years ago, even though they have their cellphones and gadgets.
Whatever people are passionate about, they need to stand up, take a stand and have their voice heard.
If people remain quiet, their rights and freedoms will slowly be taken away from them until it is too late.
I do not want to see that in a country that I love.
