Crop insurance increase to drive up food costs

Dear Editor, 

I find it extremely curious (and not in a good way) that while the UCP are using windfall oil revenues to issue “affordability” supports to (some) Albertans – basically welfare, they are simultaneously announcing a 60 per cent increase in crop insurance premiums for farmers. SIXTY PERCENT. Only a fool would believe that increased cost is not going to show up on grocery store shelves. Is this part of the “responsible financial management” they are shouting about in the current election cycle? It sure doesn’t seem like it to me!
