It is important for all levels of government to communicate with each other in an effort to ensure things runs smoothly across the board.

Vauxhall town council has an opportunity to discuss some of the problems they are facing in the municipality with one of the ministers of the provincial government and took an opportunity in their regular council meeting held on July 18 to plan out what they were going to talk about.

“I don’t know who received the text to do a survey from the UCP government for the upcoming election, but one of the questions they had was about the provincial police,” said Coun. Margaret Plumtree. “I think talking to them about provincial police, still talking to them about broadband, still talking to them about EMS — someone in the south here, I can’t remember (who), but they’re looking at advocating to the government that they want their EMS control back, and they have mentioned about Lethbridge advocating the same. We have to keep our ears open — that might be a huge provincial thing that the municipalities are going to try and make an election issue.”

After this, Mayor Ray Coad discussed the issues Vauxhall Emergency Services are currently facing in regards to ambulances.

“We discussed that very issue a little at the fire meeting and expressed our concerns within regards to the ambulance showing up 20 minutes to an hour after the other first responders,” said Coad. “They’re standing there waiting to do some thing but they can’t.”

After the mayor’s comments, Plumtree discussed the condition of highways in Alberta.
