Fall has arrived, and while we’re already missing summer's long, warm days, we can’t say that we’re sad to see autumn rushing in. Fall in Alberta is cozy, colourful, and full of incredible adventures to be had. While some love to get lost in the mountains, others prefer the more festive autumn activities.
As the leaves begin to turn and the air gets crisper, there’s no better way to celebrate the change of season in Alberta than by getting lost in a corn maze or wandering through vibrant sunflower fields. If you’re looking for some awesome family fun this fall, these spots have something for everyone. Let’s discover some of the best destinations to get lost in this fall!
Located just outside Edmonton in Spruce Grove, this corn maze is a fall favourite for everyone and features an ever-changing design each year, often themed around something uniquely Albertan. It’s truly a fall staple. With over 5 km of twisting paths and plenty of opportunities to get lost (in the best possible way), this maze is both challenging and entertaining for all ages. Take a stroll through the sunny flower fields, cut your own blooms and create a beautiful bouquet! Beyond the maze and sunflower fields, there’s a petting zoo, jumping pillows, Spud Guns, the Corn Cob Express, and mini golf where you can easily spend the whole day enjoying everything the Edmonton Corn Maze offers. Admission to the sunflower field is included in general admission.
Home to the renowned Lacombe Corn Maze, the Kraay Family Farm offers more than just an “a-mazing” pathway. This year, the Kraay family celebrates their 25th anniversary, where the family-owned farm has been a beloved destination for family, friends, and the community. The farm is jam-packed with 50+ activities and attractions, including a giant slide, a pumpkin cannon, a zip line, a paintball shooting range and farm animals to name a few. The maze itself covers acres of land and is designed with a different theme each year, ensuring no two visits are the same. It’s the perfect fall outing, whether you’re navigating the maze with a group of friends or enjoying a quiet moment by the sunflower field. Make your family memories here this fall!
If you’re a sunflower lover, then this is your place. The Bowden SunMaze at Eagle Creek Farms is famous for its expansive sunflower fields, and is a sight to behold, especially in September when the flowers are in full bloom. Wander through rows of towering sunflowers, capture stunning photos, or pick your own bouquet. There’s also a maze to explore and a U-Pick garden featuring a variety of fresh vegetables. The Bowden SunMaze is the perfect spot to soak up the gorgeous autumn hues and experience the beauty of Alberta’s countryside.
Calgary Farm Fields is Calgary’s ultimate destination for family-filled fun. Navigate your way through the 11-acre corn maze or take Instagram-worthy photos in the beautiful sunflower fields.
With a range of attractions, such as a petting zoo, mini golf, hog hoppers, and jumbo jumpers, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Come and have some fun in the farmyard!
There’s nothing quite like enjoying the glow of sunflowers to brighten your fall day. The Sunny Spot is truly a one-of-a-kind outdoor experience in the Drumheller Valley. Puzzle your way through a 5-acre corn maze, discover beautiful fields of sunflowers, try your luck at mini golf, and even take home your own pumpkin from the patch. Enjoy lunch from the eatery where you can experience the fresh culinary menu surrounded by spectacular scenery. Check out “Field of Screams” this September 21, for an evening of spooky fun! This event is for teens and adults only from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Sunny Spot is all about natural fun, delicious food, and adventure for all. Head to the valley this fall!
Down in the south, the Lethbridge Corn Maze offers a perfect mix of challenge and fun with its creatively designed maze. The maze paths are wide enough for families to navigate together, with plenty of checkpoints to help you on your way. Beyond the maze, visitors can enjoy hayrides, pumpkin patches, and a petting zoo, making it an ideal spot for the whole family to spend a fun-filled fall day.
